Macon Iron earns 5 Gold Safety Awards



Member companies of the Middle Georgia Employer Committee,were well represented at the recent OSHA Safety Seminar conducted by the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce and the Macon Economic Development Authority. The companies earned 5 out of 7 Gold Safety Awards for their 2004 performance, with 4 of those awards going to companies of the Harmony Group, represented by Al Elvins, Jr., Director of Human Resources, Safety and Environmental Compliance. A fifth committee member company also won the await L.E. Schwartz & Sons award. Member companies earning awards were.

Mr. Elvins stated the following in receiving the award on behalf of the member companies. "I acknowledge the support of the Middle Georgia Employer Committee in helping to achieve this goal. We have great people doing the right things to conduct their jobs in a safe manner that enables us to achieve recognition for the most important of our tasks - to stay safe in the work place...Additional credit should be recognized and that is the community support that we enjoy from the Middle Georgia Employer Committee and the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce sub committee on Safety and Environmental Affairs. These alliances actively support our companies with training initiatives, peer advise, and management programs that enhance our safety pro grams... thank you, all, for being there to guide, suggest and encourage our workforce".
